Cindy was the Senior Manager of Community & Events at Sigil Games Online. She was hired a year before the announcement of any project and built the foundation of the community. By the time Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was announced, there were over 100,000 members in the community and over a dozen dedicated Vanguard affiliate sites. When Vanguard was launched, there were over 200,000 members and more than 3 dozen sites, including several international sites.
Cindy is available to help companies establish new communities and develop them with their own goals and directions. She can help you find and/or train your Community Professional or help you to set up policies and guidelines that will serve to structure your community into a place that will attract new visitors who will want to return and be involved. She can also share with you some tried and true methods for attracting more interest in and growing your online community.
Many online communities have been afterthoughts. They sometimes even seem to spring up all by themselves before a company has the chance to establish how they would like to see it develop. Or if there has been no one with experience to manage the community, things can often get out of control and become a negative environment. Cindy was the Community Manager for EverQuest at the height of its success. She was there when the old “Flame Boards” were the only real form of communication with the company. She helped oversee the changes in those early days of MMOGs, as the entire industry was just learning about the impact and influence of online game communities. Cindy can examine your current situation and offer suggestions for things such as improving the overall tone of your forums, turning around a negative community image and ways to better communicate with and to your community.
Cindy was the creator and organizer of what became known as the EverQuest Fan Faires. She oversaw two successful events independently before being hired by Sony Online Entertainment. For the next 2 years, she planned and oversaw an event in a different city in the United States every 3 months. These events sold out each time, with 1500 people attending and several hundred more showing up to be part of the event. They made a profit and proved to be a way to help promote the game as well as strengthen the ties of the community and increase player retention.
Cindy can help you with everything you need to run a successful event. She can handle everything for you, running the entire event from beginning to end. Or she can work with your current community team to help them plan and execute their own events.
Cindy has years of experience in attracting new members to various types of communities, both online and in the real world. She can analyze your current site and community and offer suggestions and long term plans to increase and retain community members.
Cindy has been speaking to many types of groups for years. She is available for engagements to discuss topics such as general thoughts on the MMOG industry, getting into the game industry and Community Management. She enjoys speaking on other types of motivational and inspirational topics as well.
